SAR at CIRSE 2023
CIRSE 2023, Copenhagen
It was a pleasure to be invited to speak at CIRSE – Copenhagen, this year. My first talk, on the management of the non-traumatic bleeding patient, looked at the indications for blood products and tranexamic acid, the use of monitoring, and the evidence behind the guidelines. Of course, the session on team work in IR, included a segment on anaesthesia. It was lovely to hear about the role of the IR Nurse and just how wide their scope of practice is.
The opening ceremony was quite a feat with musicians and singers boldly entertaining us with Danish music. It was lovely to see some familiar faces in the audience. Congratulations to all those who received awards for their tremendous work and contribution to interventional radiology.
The message from CIRSE this year was very much about getting out of the IR suite and on to the wards, clinics and emergency departments to provide a continuum of care, and taking more ownership of these patients.
With the sun shining and warm Danish hospitality, I was kindly invited to the President’s dinner, where I got to hear and share many stories with other departments and industry colleagues about all the great work happening in other hospitals.
